Pep Guardiola has sparked widespread discussion after addressing speculation about a potential return to managing Manchester City. The manager emphasized that he will not rush his return to the dugout, dismissing rumors that suggested he could resume coaching just three months after leaving the club.

“A lot of people are telling me ‘after three months you will be back’. I say ‘maybe’,” Guardiola stated, as reported by Skysports on Friday (22/5/2026).

However, the Spanish tactician made it clear that he requires time to process his decision and has no intention of making a hasty comeback.

“But I need to feel it. I don’t think so, it will take time. But I need to feel it myself,” he continued.

Pep Guardiola also reflected on his decade-long tenure at Manchester City, describing the intense pressure and relentless demands for silverware each season.

“It’s not just 10 years here, I’ve been there every three days for many years. People demand the treble, the Premier League title. I need to breathe a little bit and relax,” he explained.

Despite the grueling schedule, he acknowledged that maintaining exceptionally high standards at the club was crucial to their sustained success.

“We have to push each other. The future has to be winning every training session, every single day, winning is not gifted,” he noted.

Additionally, Guardiola spoke about his deep connection to both the club and the city of Manchester, which became an integral part of his life over the past ten years.

“If you live here for 10 years, then you know all the streets of the city, including the dangerous ones,” he remarked, adding that these experiences remain invaluable milestones in his career. “It’s about memories. I have many. It’s special.”

The manager also shared how much he valued the supportive messages he received from prominent football figures and his former players.

“One of the biggest compliments I received was a text from Sir Alex Ferguson yesterday, and that made me so happy,” Guardiola revealed. “I received messages from Kevin De Bruyne, from Manu Akanji. And that’s what makes me so happy.”
