Manchester United captain and midfielder Bruno Fernandes has won the prestigious 2025/2026 Premier League Player of the Year award, a recognition of the Portuguese midfielder's impressive performances throughout the season.
According to the Premier League website on Saturday, Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United's driving force with eight goals and 20 assists in the 2025/2026 Premier League season, won the most votes from Premier League team captains, fans, and football experts.
Fernandes equaled the record for most assists in a single Premier League season, previously held by Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry.
Fernandes' significant contribution helped Manchester United finish the season in third place in the league standings. This result ensured the Red Devils returned to the top flight after being absent for the past two seasons and earned them a place in next season's Champions League.
This award complements Fernandes' individual achievements this season. Previously, the 31-year-old player was also selected as the Football Writers' Association (FWA) Player of the Year.
This marked the first time Bruno Fernandes had won the Premier League Player of the Year award in his career. He also became the first Manchester United player to win the award since Nemanja Matic in the 2010/2011 season.
Overall, Fernandes became the seventh Manchester United player to win the award. His name now ranks alongside club legends such as Peter Schmeichel, Dwight Yorke, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Wayne Rooney.
